They may have one of the tomato viruses. Put prairie hay mulch or equivalent around the base of the plants. Some people use plastic. When you water, water it from the base making sure you don't get the leaves wet. The mulch keeps dirt from splashing back up on the leaves when it rains and helps keep the soil moisture. Use a sturdy cage to allow the plant to grow upward. Stick your finger in the soil next to them 1- 2 " to determine when to water. I recommend soaker hoses.

It does sound like not enough water. If it's extremely dry and warm, you may need to water more than once a day. Also, bugs are a huge nuisance to tomato plants. The best and safest way I know to keep them off it mix a bit of liquid dish detergent with water in a spray bottle and soak them down. Hope this helps! Good luck! :)

Are you watering them in high sun? Water them only in early morning or evening. If you water them when its really hot out, you will burn their leaves, and they will die.

It sounds like not enough water OR too much sun.
