If you are lying then you are telling the truth, paradoxically if you say you are lying about something, and are in actual fact are telling the truth about it, you are lying, because whatever the truth of the statement you have told a lie by saying you are lying!

You can be lying or telling the truth. there is no way one can say for sure. You may be lying about that same statement u just made... or telling d truth. It is like saying ' i am a liar'. d statement cant be true because:

i) if u were indeed a liar, u would be telling d truth by revealing tat ur a liar

ii) if u were not a liar, u would be lying by claiming to be one...

so yeah

You would be telling the truth about lying and lying about something. As far as truth goes intentions count for a lot. A half-truth or misleading truth is a lie.

That doesn't seem to be much of a paradox. You're telling the truth about the fact you lied. THAT ONE ACTION is an action of truth. The truth itself was a lie, but by telling someone you lied, yes you are telling the truth.

The best way to lie is to tell the truth, people wouldn't believe it but when you are lying it is written all over the face. You are trying to lie to convince how good you are. nice try!

You didn't specify what you were lying about, so you would be lying.

For exampl, if the something was your age: "I am lying abou my age" Therefore you are lying

Assuming what you meant was something like.

"This statement is a lie"

Then it is, as you said, a paradox...

Is there such a thing as lying or is it just a distraction from the truth?
