Hell no! If you are to stupid to use birth control correctly, give the baby up for adoption. Or better yet keep your pants on. Abortion should be for other reasons, not birth control, my God what has this world come to.

Abortion is used to terminates a pregnancy, which prevents giving a live birth. I'm not sure if, semantically, that could be considered birth control, but it's certainly a way of avoiding having an unwanted child, as is birth control (wich avoids an unwanted pregnancy).

I'd say it makes more sense to use Abortion when contraception fails, than to forgoe contraception in favor of abortion in the eventuality of pregnancy - as became common, for instance, in the Soviet Union, where birth control was scarce and abortions free.

That phrase "used as a form of birth control" gets tossed around a lot.

If it means that people advocate not using birth control, but just going ahead, getting pregnant when you don't want to get pregnant, and getting an abortion, no, I don't think that's a good thing.

In fact, no one thinks that's a good thing.

I have never, in my entire life, following the media, and knowing thousands of people who support the right of women making their own decisions for themselves, have ever heard anyone say that females shouldn't use birth control, but should wait until they get pregnant, and then abort.

Ever.

Not once.

Whoever told you that people who support women's right to make their own decisions for themselves think that's a good thing was lying to you.

If "using abortion as birth control" means something else, then I'd love to know what that is.

Given that the people who oppose women's being able to make their own decisions for themselves also oppose educating the young regarding sex and birth control, and oppose making birth control easily available to those who have sex, it seems to me that they're why we have as many abortions as we do.

Unwanted pregnancy is a horrible state to be in and should be avoided.

When it hasn't been avoided, then the pregnant person has to deal with it in some way.

If the people who claim to want abortions to not take place would work toward policies that would greatly reduce unwanted pregnancy, there'd be a lot fewer unwanted pregnancies, a lot fewer child-moms, and a lot fewer abortions.

But they don't.

Abortion isn't a form of birth control because the female is already pregnant. I strongly believe that the government shouldn't tell a woman what to do with her body. It should be the womans choice to have an abortion or not.

As a common form of birth control? Like the "pill" or a condom? No, I do not think it should be used as an everyday form, like: "I can't believe it! I'm pregnant for the 7th time this year! Oh, well, guess I've got to make another appointment with the doctor".

I personally believe it should be legal, with no restrictions as to why the procedure is being done.

I also believe that people should take responsibility for their bodies. Women should make their men wear condoms. And yes ladies, they really do decrease our sensitivity, but not as much as we complain about it.

Pro choice and no.
All other forms of birth control should be easily accessible to the general public and kids should learn more than abstinence only

In a perfect world, everyone would be responsible. However, in our very flawed world, I think that financial disadvantage is a legitimate reason for abortion. Our adoption and foster care systems are bursting at the seams, with about 500,000 American children in foster care and 100,000 waiting for adoption every year.

We can't have our cake and eat it too, so to speak. We simply can't afford to continue to ban gays and single parents from adopting but also discourage abortion (for any reason). Our foster and adoption systems would explode with children.

That being said, while I am pro-CHOICE, I would not have an abortion for any reason (of course, I'm financially stable and in a committed relationship...easy for me to say, huh?).

NO. I am all for personal responsibility. Abortion should always be the last choice, however, it should be a safe and legal choice. To outlaw abortions only outlaws safe abortions.

As a person who has personally used both, I can tell you that BY DEFINITION abortino IS birth control...it is controlling birth. And it CAN"T be used as a contraceptive because pregnancy has already occurred...Also, since abortions run you anywhere from $300 to $500, are painful, disruptive, and a nightmare to endure, while the pill aand other contraceptions are not, I can tell you that no one uses abortion because they don't want to use contraception...sometimes we use it and it doesn't work, sometimes it is not our choice to have sex, sometimes we are nbot educated enough to use contraception. What I want to know is why are their birth control riders attached to abortion bills? (riders that want to do away with contraception on account of it's ;abortifacient' properties...email me if you need clarification) and why people will fight 'PLAN B" ( the emergency contraception) and condoms in school...etc...

No way!
I think it should be the last resort!
The government should spend more money educating about and giving free birth control to teens and poor people.
