My husband and I live in a small house. One bedroom, kitchen, little area off the kitchen that is used as his computer 'room', living room and bathroom. Since it's so small, it gets cluttered and messy really easy. Does anyone have any tips and time savers that I could use? How can I make cleaning part of my everyday routine and not hate it so much???

I always start the day by turning on the radio and grabbing a garbage bag. I start throwing away all the trash my hubby and kids left out. Then I wipe down everything. Next i pick up toys, and dishes and put where it all goes. I then fill the dishwasher (or hand wash) and wipe down kitchen counters. Then I sweep any hard floors. Next I vacuum. Get a routine and make sure everything has a place to put it back. If it doesn't, after you clean, start organizing. If you are out of room, go through and pack up in totes what you don't use regularly. If you haven't used in over a year, throw away or donate to a resale or church. Or have a yard sale. :) Best of luck!

Here's what I do-

Make a list of the top 3 things that need to be done (if you can't narrow it down to 3, make it 5, or whatever)

example:
Laundry (start new load, put away pile on the chair)
Dishes
Clean counter
trash (pick up, take to curb/dumpster)

Set your timer (I use the microwave timer) for 5 minutes, and work on ONLY one thing for the 5 minutes. Then pick something else from the list and work for 5 minutes. You can also give yourself a break, but set the timer for that too!

You get more done by staying focused (and not running from room to room, or getting distracted sorting a pile of stuff) You'll be very surprised how much you can get done in 15-30 minutes.

If you don't finish something in the 5 minutes, either reset the timer for another 5 minutes after you've taken a break or worked on something else- or don't. At least you did something.

This is really great for me, because I can actually get something done during the commercials of my fav. tv show, or between baby crying/diaper changes!

only have the things that you use everyday at hands the other things needs to be store away from the view, if you have a storage somewhere in the house put your things in clear totes and label them with the contents, this way it's easier to find things when you need them and cleaning will be a breeze
on top of that you will feel that you have more room in your home , the secret is purge! But sometimes it's hard to let go ! so just put them away!

Start out with your favorite room in the house. Mine is my bedroom...once, I see how clean I have it I spread to other parts of the house. Key essential is to be organized. The worst part in cleaning up is having those little things all over the house and you don't even know where to begin. It gets frustrating. Get a junk drawer. Throw little things in there that you don't want to get rid of but want to keep and you know you'll use later. Also, I love the smell of Pine-sol...so to motivate me I always take whiff of it and it pumps me up. I blast the music up loud and I get to work. Start off by picking up the obvious things like dirty cups, empty bags....etc. Imagine your house already clean by closing your eyes, then open your eyes and you'll see what needs to be cleaned and organized. Also, look into going to the dollar store or walmart and get those little containers to put your things in so that they don't get all over the place. Also, in the morning before I go to work I always make my bed. Even if I'm in a rush I just throw my blankets over my bed to make it look some what decent. I love coming home to a clean home. It feels so relaxing.

I also recommend getting some scented candles and light them to make your home comfy and smelling good. :) Good Luck!

Check out this great website. She advocates doing things in 15 minute blocks of time. You can get a daily email giving you a task for the day too!
