We have been together 7 years, and will be celebrating our 1 year wedding anniversary next Monday. What can we do fun and memorable on work night? I want to give him suggestions on sweet things to do, but I want him to think that he is the one coming up with them!

I would suggest that you both save the celebration for a weekend when neither one of you have to work, and then plan accordingly. This way you have more options, and if you plan on drinking alcohol, you won't need to be concerned about waking the next day with a hangover, depending. It is not so crucial the day you celebrate, as it is the idea that you are celebrating the year. Why not celebrate your wonderful occasion on the weekend prior, since the day is on a Monday? With that in mind, there are many things you can do to celebrate this marvelous milestone together. You can either come up with the ideas yourself, and present them to him, or the two of you can sit down together, and discuss all the options, and decide together. It is not so important who comes up with the idea, but more important that you both agree. Let it be a fun and enjoyable time, and it needn't be expensive, as the more important issue at hand is that you both are taking the time to celebrate this together. I congratulate you on this memorable occasion.

Go out to a nice romantic dinner. Or you could celebrate your wedding anniversary on the weekend, where you "both" should plan something nice and memorable. After all it takes "two" to get married and be man and wife. We women shouldn't think that our anniversaries should be all about us.....you know the typical flowers and jewelry from the "man" thing. It should be something you enjoy together. By the way, Happy Anniversary!

Here's something creative that will be appreciated and you will have fun doing:

Make up a crossword puzzle and have all the hints be personal inside moments and jokes that only you two would know about. Put it on a poster board and add some clipart and some pictures to it!

The crossword puzzle could be time consuming and a bit frustrating ... you could do the same idea with a WORDSEARCH or WORDFIND puzzle.

Put your computer skills to work! Use Excel, get clipart from Yahoo Images Search, copy them, and reformat them, use a gluestick to put on posterboard.

Use graph paper, and pictures from magazines if you are not as good on the computer, and it will give it a homemade feeling.

Why should you give him suggestions on what to do when you both should be planning your night together!! This anniversary is a celebration for both of you. It's an anniversary not a cataclysmic event....do something you both enjoy and have a good time.

We made a deal. I would plan what we would do for our first wedding anniversary and he would plan our 10th. I am not very creative at all. We visited the place we had our first date (we had dinner there and in the same exact booth), our first kiss, where we got engaged, the church where we had our wedding. After that we just decided to go home and HE ended up surprising me. He told me to wait in the car while he went in the house to set things up. He pulled my wedding dress out and he rented a tux, bought wine and got out our the glasses we drank from, got our cake out, and played the same music we had for our first dance. It was soooo romantic! We go all dresses up and danced our "second dance" haha drank some wine, ate our cake then we redid our wedding night. Lot's of fun! EDIT: We didn't have kids for another 4 years.

Why do he need to do the sweet things? Why can't you do something for him?
