President Bush has already claimed, in a number of public speeches, that we have broken up terrorist plots to attack U.S. citizens on U.S. soil. By claiming this, Bush renders his own "follow us home" argument null and void. If attacks have already been planned and broken up, the terrorists are obviously already trying to attack us here while our troops are still in Iraq. How can Bush claim, with a straight face, that a consequence of leaving Iraq will be that terrorists will "follow us home" to attack us on our own soil when, with his own words and while our troops are still in Iraq, he has told us that they are already trying to attack us on our own soil?

It is highly likely that there are already some here. The rest of the answer is that the longer we spend pursuing our adventure in Fubariyah, the more likely it is that someone from abroad or someone within the US will become so outraged by what we have done that they will take some sort of action in the US.
The longer we are there, the more probable and more devastating the reactions are likely to become.
Bush will say whatever he thinks will stave off the inevitable universal recognition of his disastrously poor judgement.

It is called "politics of fear" and is used to control people....... Read the following - and notice who said it! Why of course the people don't want war. Why should some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best he can get out of it is to come back to his farm in one piece? Naturally the common people don't want war neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country." Hermann Goering, Nazi In case you are too young to know who this is, it was Adolph Hitler's right-hand-man and the architect of the Holocaust. He gave this little speech at the Nuremburg war trials after WWII when the Germans were called to account for the death of 6 million Jews and 5 million others they didn't like.

It's like the old "domino theory" of the Indo-China wars days. The cons kept telling us that if one country fell to the Communists, it would wind up like a stack of dominos, i.e. all of South East Asia would fall.
Well, 3 countries did fall to the Communists, Viet Nam, Laos, and Cambodia. Only Cambodia is more or less rid of them. Laos is still run by the party and so is Viet Nam. But Viet Nam is today growing to be one of our leading trading partners.
We should have pulled out of there long before we lost all those soldiers. The same thing would have happened - and about 50,000 Americans would not have been wasted in Viet Nam.

There's nothing preventing them from coming here now, to be perfectly honest. The war in Iraq is not preventing terrorists from coming in to this country.
They're already here. It's impossible that they're not. We just don't know about it.

Its only because Bush likes to use his scare tactics and push us into a corner like children.
He just wants us to stay in Iraq cuz in his mind its the right thing to do...forget Bin Laden...Iraq is our "true" threat.

I have supported Bush's Iraq policy and other antiterrorism measures.
But the best agrument AGAINST them comes from Bush himself. How can he be serious about national security when he wants to throw the borders open to all comers, including many who think large parts of America belong to their home country? Not even al-Qaeda claims that!
I'm disgusted.

NO they wont "follow us home", and most if not ALL of those so called "foiled terrorist plots" were instigated by CIA agents or informants under CIA supervision.

With 6 to 7 million muslims in this country it is safe to assume that wether we leave Iraq or not they are not going to leave us alone. We are the infidels and they expect to take over.

to be fair, those terrorists who stole our planes and bombed our buildings were illegal terrorists who came in with bogus passports.
