My husband and I have completly opposite tastes in music. I don't like the bands he likes and vice versa. It's not really a huge deal but it would be nice if we liked the same stuff so we could go to concerts together. How important is it for you and your spouse to have similar taste in music?

It's not important that you like the same music. It IS important, however, that you each respect the other's taste in music. You can still go to concerts and things together if you do. Go to a concert for a band or singer/musician he likes, and then he can go to one of your concerts with you.

It's a give and take thing, just like everything else.

I have found it pretty rare for guys and girls to share the exact same musical tastes. If a difference in musical taste is all it takes to come between you, then you're with the wrong person.

My husband and I share some of the same tastes in music, but mostly not. He likes old country music--I absolutely hate it. Sometimes we'll go to concerts together, sometimes not. If it's something that I know will drive me nuts, I'll suggest he go with his sister or someone else, but sometimes I'll go with him if I can at least tolerate the music--just to spend the time with him. And, you never know--sometimes you learn to like something after being exposed to it.

*But I still hate that old country stuff after 19 years--I went to the Grand Ol Opry with him once--and that was it.

it is only important if you make it important. My wife and I had different taste in music and over the years we now share some common taste in music. So give yourselves some time and be open minded about it.

We are completely opposite too - he loves rock and i am into michael buble kinda music ...err, i think breaking benjamin and chevelle are considered rock right? anyway, he have that "noise" playing when we are going to zzz-land. i never like having music being played when i am trying to sleep but i kinda got use to it and i even enjoy some of the bands he plays like breaking benjamin. but that doesn't mean i don't insult his music, in which i would call it noise and he would insult back the music i listen too but it was all fun.something like play fight but in a different tone

It's not important at all. Just because you both don't like the same music and you both don't want to go to concerts together then find a girlfriend for yourself to go with you and your husband can go with a male friend to go with him. My husband and I pretty much like the same type of music.
