**Update**
I just checked the link the first guy posted- it's a great deal, I'd jump on that! (Even though he appears to be a hopeless ATI fanboy who doesn't realize Nvidia rules the world) :P

The amount of video card memory (512mb vs 256mb) is not as important as other features like which card has the higher core & clock speeds. In many cases, 512mb cards use slower memory- take a 256mb DDR3 card over a 512mb DDR2 card in a heartbeat. Now if all the other card features are comparable, then more memory is good. Where memory matters most is system RAM- I wouldn't build a gaming PC with less than 1Gb these days.

You'll probably want to look at the Radeon X1950 Pro and GeForce 7900GS, those are the best cards under $175.

Here's the latest gaming video card buyer's guide from Tom's Hardware- it breaks which cards are the best choices for every price range.

Hope this helps!

His present graphics card is enough to play any game currently in the market with optimum clarity. But if he wants something even better then he can upgrade to one of those 1 GB gpu's of either ATI or nvidia Geforce. This is possible only if he is using a desktop pc , for laptops it's not possible.

It's not the amount of Mbs you got in youre graphic card but the Bits should also be equivalent for example i have a GeForce 6200 256MB 128bit Card but compared to that a Geforce 6600GT 128MB 128bit is much better because it has a faster processor (measured in MHz) and the amount of bitys is equivalent to take full avantge of the 128MB memory. so i think for a 10000 budget go for the GeForce 7600GT 256MB.

I would also suggest upping your ram, the best vid card in the world won't help if your computer doesn't have enough ram to run some games,(many new games require 1 to 2G's of ram.) Also processor speed, many games require at least 2GHz minimum.
