ABSOLUTELY! Never re-elect anybody. Public service is a brief civic duty, not a career. Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Let's face it, lobbying does not help the general public; that's why they are called "special interest groups". People keep thinking this means they are for "women's rights", or "black rights" or Chicano's rights". Perhaps sometimes they are, but mostly they are for "people who have inside information getting rich at taxpayer's expense rights".
The Supreme Court stuck down term limits in Nebraska and other states that passes such laws, saying it is "unconstitutional". Well, it is "unconstitutional" for the Supreme Court to pass laws; that is the right of Congress.
You are so right, we need term limits and a tight controll if not outright ellimination of lobbyists. At least, there should be a law requiring pentagon officials from working in the war production industry for, say, at least 10 years.

I agree with term limits but you would have to change a lot more. If nothing else changed, it would reinforce the group of aides that have so much power now. The elected officials spend most of their time campaigning or getting money to campaign that they do not have time to care about was is really going on in congress. So they delegate most of the work to assistants. When someone leaves congress, there is a lot of maneuvering to get the "right" aides. Term limits would just increase the power of the aides.
But getting rid of the power of people that have been in office too long is much needed.

Two terms for senators and 4 for Congress. And Retiring military flag officers should be forbidden from working for Military contract companies or DOD for 5 years after retirement. That would help.

Absolutely! But it is more than term limits. We need to STOP special interest groups from lobbying our senators and representatives - they are not there to help anyone but themselves - to OUR tax money!

Yeah, this makes sense. Let's prevent anyone who understands what is happening from working in the area of expertise. Who do you want working in the area of weapons development, ex-McDonald's managers or former military officers?

This might be nice, but our masters will never allow it. Don't be fooled by the illusion.
Since everyone on the ballot is pre-approved by the owners, your vote really doesn't matter very much at all.

When the people fear the government it is tyranny. When the government fears the people it is democracy.
I say listen to Jefferson.
