The Texas Alt-Country/Pop band the Old 97s have very clever lyrics. The Old 97s singer/songwriter Rhett Miller is one of the most clever lyricists around. A lot of his lyrics have double-meanings, and mean more after repeated listens, than they appear to on the surface, at first listen.

Arctic Monkeys!! I'm serious man! Thats like why they are famous pretty much. If you read the lyrics and then listen to the song, or even read the lyrics along to any song, the way he fits the words in are TRIPPY! The music is funky and ****** awesome too. Download some of their songs, like "Red light indicates doors are secure", "balaclava" has some pretty clever lyrics, or "the bad thing"

they're an up and coming folk/parody duo from new zealand
they have a lot of irony and satire in their lyrics
i think they may be marketing themselves as comedians moreso than musicians
