My doctor has talked to me about induction at 37 weeks because of my fainting spells so far my answer has been no because I am afraid it will turn out like the induction with my first child lasting over 25 hours and I am afraid the due date maybe incorrect and the baby might come early but she has told me because of the early ultrasound at 12 weeks that is very doubtful! but yesterday I had a scare, my husband had found me face down on the bathroom floor breathing rapidly but not responding for about 4 minutes so he called for help and i was taking by ambulance to the closest hospital my family and children where all very upset, they checked to make sure the baby was ok, baby is fine other then low blood pressure and needing oxygen for a few hours I am fine I guess what I am asking is are fainting spells a good reason to induce so early?

woo...i'm a huge advocate of waiting until the baby's ready, but that's a tough one. i'm gonna have to say that because it seems like the baby is doing okay, wait as long as you can. it's just sooo much better for the baby if you wait. just take it easy, try to avoid things that make you dizzy/strenuous activity, and let your hubby spoil you for a few weeks. :)

Has anyone checked your blood sugar? Hypoglycemia can cause these symptoms, including low blood pressure. (Try eating very frequent, small meals throughout the day consisting of complex carbohydrates and plenty of protein. Avoid simple carbohydrates such as candy, pastries, etc.)

I don't blame you for wanting to NOT induce. I would say you need to consider all the risks of inducing and then weigh the benefits. If the baby is doing fine..... only you can decide. Don't get "scared" into an unnecessary induction. There are many more risks than just a long labor.

You can read up on the risks here:

Has your caregiver given you any idea WHY you have been passing out?

If it's as simple as low iron or low blood sugar, then you can fix that! Take chelated iron supplements if your iron is low. Eat more often - every 2 hours - if you were passing out due to being weak from not enough calories. Or could it be blood pressure related? Then maybe following the Brewer diet would help you.

Explore all the options and all the possible reasons why this is happening before you consent to induction.

I would say YES to induction - it's not that horrible and this time it might not mirror your first induction, but know that it may. Since your doctor is saying that at 37 weeks you will be fine, go for it. I delivered all of mine at 37 or 38 weeks - one by induction.

Depends on how often you get them..I would almost venture to say yes it would be a good reason to induce if your blood pressure is that low, the baby might not be getting enough oxygen!

Duh - you need to be induced and get this baby delivered.
Then you need to figure out why you're having fainting spells - whether it's pregnancy related or what??
Not good for you or the baby.

duh, ya! don't mean to sound rude, but what if you were to fall on your baby? you could kill your baby! at 37 weeks your baby should be really healthy. do what's BEST for you and your baby, not what's best for your own FEARS. if you keep saying no, it sounds like your being selfish, and putting your baby in harms way.
