As the smart is produced in France, not the UK, its nor relevant to the question you asked - although it may be relevant to the question you tried to ask.
The shortest car in production in the UK is the MINI convertible in One or Cooper trim level, at 3635mm long.
The shortest car currently on sale in the UK (apart from the smart) is the Toyota Aygo (produced in the Czech Republic) at 3405mm long. This may be the answer to the question you tried to ask.

Sarah you post that the Smart is crap and then go on to mention the mini (oh the irony - the mini has the same wheels base as a Land Rover Defender) and the Aygo.
If i had a choice inbetween a Smart, a Mini or an Aygo i would get the Smart.
Oh, hang on, i did!!!
I keep hearing that the Smart is crap, but then there is no arguement to back it up.

So should your question be,
'What is the shortest non-crap car in production in the UK?'
In which case, that is an ambiguous question as it depends what you think is crap or not??
A mini perhaps? Or Toyota Aygo?

I can't think of anything shorter than a Ligier Ambra at 2470mm.
