At least a couple times a day or more, I see questions posted about the Evil Bush Administration and The Patriot Act and how so many rights have been lost under both.

Will someone please give me an example of what personally you have had as a right taken away from you as a result of the above?

It means companies have to confirm someones identity if they apply for something like a bank loan or Traditional IRA. So, illegals can't as easily steal social security numbers cause the numbers are matched with dob and etc.

ohhhhh scary......

My medical records are no longer private - the US government can accesss and decide whether I am "at risk" for being a terrorist. My library cards are not just between me and the library. The US government has access to them as well. They have access to my checking account and to any information I may have out there for club memberships, books I purchase and the church I am a member (or not a member of). Read the 2001 US (Un) Patriot Act sometime. It will shock you with what freedoms you say you don't think you have that were taken away from you by the evil chimp and all his cohorts! If you think he ISN'T evil .... think again! If you do not know what rights you are guaranteed by the US Constitution - start memorizing it as well! They can't take from you if you think you have no rights! Trouble is, WE ALL HAVE RIGHTS that a lot of people shed blood for us to have. What gives the chimp the right to just take our very basic freedoms away and give all the excuse, "It is because of terrorism".

Just because I personally have not had my home searched, or my financial records, phone and email records searched (that I know of) without probable cause or a court order doesn't mean that we should give the government permission to do so. The conservatives/Republicans talk about how they want a smaller government, and that the government not intrude into our lives, yet they would suspend the Constitutional guarantees that would prevent illegal searches and seizures.

I also have not personally had my civil rights violated, but that doesn't mean we should get rid of those laws either. I guess you are saying that since I have not been personally discriminated against, I should be okay with discrimination.

The right to due process, although it hasn't come up yet, I take a certain solace in knowing that I am innocent until proven guilty and that my privacy cannot be invaded without warrant.

I have also liked the idea that if i am going to be detained, I need to be charged with a crime. Under that patriot act the criminal justice system has been perverted.

Those are the rights we have lost. Although It may not impact most of us, they are fundamental to protecting us from tyranny.

OK The Patriot act allows the govt. to enter your home WITHOUT a warrant ,look around ,take 'evidence', and NOT be required to even tell you ! Does that sound AMERICAN to you ? Also the govt. can take you to another country without any 'charges' without telling your family, and then 'torture' you if they want ! The govt. can look at all Library records and even video rental records WITHOUT a warrant or TELLING ANYBODY !We do not have the Right of Habeus Corpus anymore !Do you Bushrovians even know what Habeus Corpus is ? The list is a long one ! OH yeah..don't forget the problems that 'GONZO' is having with the provision in the P. A. that got slipped in letting 'GONZO fire Prosecuters for political reasons ! So that's what that piece of [excrement-deleted] Bush [criminal war] admin. did !

Those who have been targeted by the Patriot Act aren't around to answer your question.

I'm all for fighting terrorism, but there's a line to be drawn, and that line is when the Constitution is compromised. We are talking specifically about the 4th, 5th, 6th and 8th amendments.

the right to not be exposed to such overwhelming stupidity. give it time they will connect bush to aids or something like that. the patriot act is a bad idea not an illegal one. the bull that goes along with it is just too much. sentencing a man to twenty years in prison for having sex on an airplane, its just too much.

remember only you can stop man bear pig lol!

This act has made a significant impact on our ability to monitor those who monitor us.

You know the old saying, "Who will watch the watchers?"

Well the Patriot act answers that question with, "You leave everything to us and don't worry about who and what we are watching".

THANK YOU!

The only rights I can see are the ones where the government won't allow people to communicate terrorist activities with each other. I think they are afraid that the government is going to bust them for their drug deals or their cheating on their spouse or something like that.
