US courts (san diego, los angeles) are not allowing the Catholic Church to get away with the bankruptcy game to hide transperancy. Could it be the beginning of the end for this sudo-religious entity?

2.Sorry about pseudo/sudo. I think the point was made. This is not a spelling forum.
3.Any government/religion/commercial entity is open to criticism for crimes committed and essentially ignored. Enron/Catholic Church. One and the same.

Ignorant jackass? For spelling Pseudo wrong?
Ok I am a jackass then.

But I will not ignore the uncountable lawsuits against the Catholic Church engulfing the US courts at this time.

Lets see. Am I the ignorant one?

The church ALLOWED the priests to stay in service long after abuses were known.
Therefore they ARE LIABLE.
The Catholic Church is a dishonest body.

The United Nations will soon destroy all false religion in an effort to achieve world peace and security. But it will really be God putting it into their minds to carry out his judgement against these false teachers and child molesters.

I have to assume that you are referring to situations similar to the one in the articles below:

http://www.americancatholic.org/Messenger/Oct2004/Editorial.asp

All of the above regard liabilities imposed by the courts for sexual abuse by Priests.
To the best of my knowledge, the only priests that take a vow of poverty are the Jesuits.

The church itself could duck the liability of the individual priest for his actions unless it could be proven that the church itself was aware of what was going on.

Lawyers will always sue however has the deepest pockets. In the above cases the individual parish churches are seen to have deeper pockets than an individual priest.

BUT a legal decree that a church owes someone X amount of dollars does not mean that that church has that much money.

Large corporations after losing large class action lawsuits, especially the tobacco companies, routinely appeal the decision and file bankruptcy papers.

You can find out more about the Bankruptcy Laws at:
http://www.uscourts.gov/bankruptcycourts.html

I have investigated a few corporations that have filed for bankruptcy. The unsecured creditors and stockholders always take a hit. The lawyers know that and they usually will settle for less than the full award.

Churches are corporations, not for profit corporations and are entitled to the same protection as other corporations.

I think that they are using this law to stop the lawsuits for sexual abuse. They have to pay for a lawyer to defend themselves.

The attorneys should go after the assets of the individual who committed the abuse rather than the Church that he works for. I think that would put an end to sexual abuse more than going after money that people gave to the church to do good things.

Jesus promised that the "gates of hell with not prevail" against his Church.

If the legions of hell can't bring down the Church, what chance does an earthly government have?

Long after the United States, as we know it, disappears, the Catholic Church will remain until the end of time.
