They are hoping he will give them that little boost taht gets them back into the swing of things, as any one who has ever played a sport knows sometimes it only takes one of the little things to go right in order for you get back on track and Roger definately does all the little things along with some pretty big ones as well.

They're looking to sell more jersey's and Clemens merchandise. Who needs winning when your making so much money on the business end. I just feel bad for the Mets fans that have to fight off Yanks fans trying to jump ship.

I don't think that the Yankees think Roger will save them. What I do think is that they think he'll bring stability to a shakey staff. He will also help to mentor the youngsters like Desalvo and Hughes and Clippard.

Sometime you need the "Go to Guy", Clemmons is that. look at how he raised the spirits of the Astros a few years ago. My only concern is his age and knack for getting injured. All teams need a solid base someone to set the pace. In football it is the QB, baseball its the pitcher.

I love the Yankees.
I really don't like Clemens.
That being said, I don't care who is on your pitching staff, he immediately gives your team a boost and takes the pressure off the other guys.

They are hoping he will get the team hyped up so they can start winning again, and also great pitching can shut down any team. And he is definetly a great pitcher.

because he is a good pitcher and gives up little amounts of runs
and if you give up little runs you have a better chance of winning and sparking the team
