My kids have been taken away from me since 2001. I still have my parental rights, but she won't let them spend alone time with just the 3 of us. I also pay child support. How do i go about getting my kids back in my custody if i owe on child support?

At the time my son was 2 and my daughter was 3 months. I was a single mom, trying to make ends meet. Someone called dcf and they came and took my kids away stating that i was an unfit parent, because they thought my daughter was 'malnourished' which was wrong. The lady who came and took my them away from me was a really mean. They made a big deal out of it and they hauled them off. I never had anything to do with the law and i didn't know whether or not they could do something like that. I had food, diapers, clothes everything I still don't understand why they took them. I lost my home in the process because I was in jail.It took me awhile because when i went to court they gave me a year of probation. I violated my probation because I was living from house to house. And you have to have a place to stay. my family didn't help me out, well let's just say growing up i was the black sheep of the family and I still am. So I finally got off of probation in 2005. I have a place now.2007

No I have NEVER done drugs I had a home how can i pay for rent if I'm in jail. That is how I lost my home to begin with. Not only was I on probation but also had to pay them money i had to pay money to the people I was staying with and I DID have a job. with the job i had to pay child support. Not only that I also have to eat i have to pay for my car to even get back and forth to work. Plus car insurance If I had the right amount of money I'd be able to afford a good lawyer to get back. Heck I was working in fast foods And at the flea market on weekends.I just got myself stable and now in my home, where I CAN prove to the state I am a fit parent, Heck, i was before they took them away from me and ruined my life because of the fact I LOST my home from that day.

Petition the court for custody. Apply for modification of the support order.

It is not the child support that is keeping you from your children. It is your behavior, past and current.
If you really want your kids back, you need to stop whatever behavior you have been doing, get a good job, go to work everyday to prove you are a stable mother, pay your child support on time, pay the back child support you owe, your own apartment with bedrooms for the kids, keep it clean and pay your rent on time. -- And don't "move in with someone"....
Quit using if you are doing drugs, quit being promiscuous if that is your problem. Quit hanging out with bums and losers, if that's your problem.
In other words, clean up yourself and your act and start acting like a mother - then maybe you stand a chance.

I really can't answer this because, well you left out all of the details. The thing that i don't understand is that your mom won't let you be alone with your kids. Almost like she don't trust you with them.
And i don't know how you can go about getting your kids back, i don't know what your cercumstance was in the first place for your mom to get them.
And why did you wait for 6 yrs to fight for them? Thats an awful long time to wait to have your kids, even if you were in rehab for one thing or another. Not saying thats what it was, just using it for example.
You need to fill me in one what went down. Or you won't be able to get a helpful enough anwer

I have no clue, but I would call a lawyer. It must be really hard knowing that they are not in your custody!? You'll get them back! Just keep trying. Dont give up :)

Who knows what your Mom knows. You need to let us know why she got them ,so people can really base themselves on facts before forming an opinion.
