I have raised a few beardies and honestly, I find the viv's, can be an issue, if the wood is not properly treated and coated you can eventually build up bacteria, Truely you want something that is able to be easily cleaned. I find the aquariums work rather well....Once full grown you want them to have plenty of room... these lil guys are very active.... they will need the space of approximately 55-60 gallon tank.

also keep in mind the babies need some special attention... you might be better to start off with a juvi, ( 2-9 months old )

Beardies are wonderful pets and love the attention of their owners.

There are plenty of websites that have alot of useful information..... go to the search engine of your choice and just enter bearder dragons care info, and you will find all the info you need.

I agree with wcanpeace4270 and it seems like the second time today. I use an aquarium for both of my beardies (separate aquariums), but I was advised by my local reptile shop, to start out with a juvenile because they are easier to take care of. The babies have to be fed 3 times a day, they eat the little pinhead crickets, and don't develop an appetite for vegetables until they are older. You also aren't supposed to leave the crickets in with the babies, because they eat the babies toes off. If you see beardies online missing toes, that's most likely the cause. The babies are a lot harder to take care of, but if you still want a baby then check out someplace that actually knows something about reptiles to head you in the right direction. NO big chain pet store, they just buy their beardies in bulk at $5 a beardie and if they die it's no big loss because they are making $100 for every one they do manage to sell! I could go on all day, but at least check this website out, before buying a beardie.

And good luck... They are lots of fun and great with kids, and yes your cage is if any thing a little big for a baby, but that's better than too small!

You need a vivarium, not an aquarium! Yes this is definitely big enough for one small dragon but make sure it is furnished properly with heating, lighting etc. if you are looking for advice and tips to get you started you can get a free beginners guide here. It might help you as a new owner to answer some basic queries about their housing, feeding, and health. Hope it helps!

The size is fine but you may have to feed the dragon its crickets in a separate container for awhile. That 's a lot of space for a baby to be chasing down food in.

reptiles should never be kept in an aquarium! Always a vivarium made out of wood with a glass frontage!! The tank is a liitle on the large side anyway, just have it for now with a sheet of wood or something similar. Please get a viv better for your animal in the long run.

That sounds a bit on the large size for a baby. Space-wise, it is more than sufficient.
