I though this guy was good when I first saw him but much better than expected.

I am extremely impressed by Okajima, I think he has been on eof the best pick ups on the Sox. He is doing exactly what he was brought in for, he is getting 3 outs a game and setting up perfectly for Papelbon and he has even earned a big save against teh Yankees. He has looked great, an ERA of 1.05, 25.2 innings pitched, 26 K,only 3 earned runs, only 7 walks, and he has earned 4 total saves when Papelbon isnt available. He has been a quality guy that has come up big when needed. Also, just watching him, his stuff has been very impressive, great movement and command. I really hope he keeps it up the rest of the year and I see no reason he cant.

The Red Sox General Manager Theo Epstein knows how to sign pitching. That pathetic GM on the Yankees was specifically informed by Hideki Matsui (the most respected player in Japan) that Okajima was a sure thing. By vouching for Okajima, Matsui paid him the highest honor possible. Cashman who has an absolutely terrible track record signing pitching should have not been so arrogant as to disregard Matsui's advice. Who does Cashman think he is?

Look at his record with pitching, just look at it. As a Yankee fan I am disgusted.

Okajima is everything he is cracked up to be, and Cashman deserves to lose his job for not signing him!

he's good, but he'll trail off..

As a reliever, he hasn't been seen that much... 2 or 3 batters a game, 7 or 8 a week..

so there's not much of a scouting report out there on him.
If he was a starter - people would be able to read him even better and then we'll find out..

Pre-allstar game stud.... Post All-star game - run of the mill

He is impressive with good movement on his pitches and good control. I believe he could be a closer someday, if not for the Red Sox than some other major league team. The problem is that he is 31 years old and time is running out.

He's been solid thus far. He keeps the balls down not really the hitters a lot do with th pitch.

He's also good a getting ahead on batters in the count.
