my computer often makes clicking noises on its own, I can be in another room and it will just start making these clicking noises - any ideas?

Could be a fan with bearings that are wearing out or a significant amount of disk activity (disk head clicking). If you are comfortable opening your case you might be able to more easily determine the cause. Hopefully it is just the fan as they are cheaper and don't involve restoring the OS/data.

whats it doing when the noise starts? If its just sitting there, then your fans may need to be replaced/repiared. If your running a program (any program other than something like office, or something that can run without going back to the hard drive) then your hard drive may need replaced, if thats the case do it soon because it would really bite if you lost everything you had saved on there.

its your hard drive. the bearings tend to get worn in the hard drive and will sometimes make noise like this.
