Remember when liberals said the Cold War could not be won and that a military buildup and tougher negotiating stance would only turn it into a hot war and not lead to a checkmate with the USSR?

Remember when liberals said price controls wouldn't create shortages?

Remember when liberals said tax cuts would exacerbate inflation and not help the economy grow naturally with less reliance on Fed inflation?

I do. And I remember how things were at the time. And because we didn't listen to them, the Cold War was won, there are no shortages of gasoline or anything else, tax rates are lower, tax REVENUE is UP, inflation is low, GDP growth is strong and stable, unemployment is low, real median family income is 1/3 higher than it was, real average incomes have doubled, and while the rich have gotten richer, the rate at which people who didn't start out rich are becoming rich is at an all-time high.

So the answer is pretty clear - less government intrusion in your personal life AND in your economic life.

OK who voted thumbs down on this? Any of you suckholes want to argue that the 1970s economy was better than the economy has been ever since, you go right ahead.

Liberals were not arround durring slavery, Republicans did that. Scientists said that the earth rotates around the sun and not the sun around the earth. Agnostics (Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin) said it is crazy to burn witches at the stake. Green Peace ,prior to its founder leaving the organization, suggested that we stop dumping raw sewage into our lakes and rivers. Librals never wanted to ban tobacco, just tax it for all it was worth. Why else do they want to legalize marijuana?

But the current stock of "liberals" are actually "Neo-Liberals" aka socialists, not the classical liberals of old.

A classical liberal would never use the coercive power of government to force a private owner of rental property to rent to people he didn't want living there. The use of the coercive power of govt was always considered worse than the behavior it was meant to stop. The classical liberals had no love of government intervention and interference in private business.

The concept of ending slavery came from very religious Christians. Radical moreso than liberal, IMO.

And conservatives don't want a free press? The only people against a free press are authoritarians.

Again, regarding the orbits of the planets, radical more than liberal.

Do you have any proof it was liberals and only liberals who were against witch hunts? Ironic, because the Neo-liberal seems to fully support the Democratic Congress' witch-hunts against the Bush administration.

It was not just liberals. There are just as many conservatives who believe in conservation and responsible stewardship of the land.

You neo-liberals have very little in common with the classical liberals who did not believe in looking to government for solutions.

Ok first of all, not a question. Secondly, not crazy at all since smoking DOES cause cancer and second-hand smoking does too - personally, I don't see why I should have to worry about dying because someone else is sucking on a death stick next to me.

Thankfully, many states and now also European countries are issuing bans on public smoking. Hurray for a healthier planet!

Remember when Liberals said that teachers shouldn't have any rights in their own classrooms? Or remember when Liberals wanted dodgeball banned because they didn't want kids to be challenged? Or how about when they wanted tag banned from recess at elementary schools because kids might fall and scrape themselves or have too much contact? Remember when Liberals said it wa ok to sue Mc Donalds when you spill their coffee all over your lap because it didn't have a warning labe on the cup? Or maybe when liberals said you can take someone to court for shooting you because you broke into their home? Remember when Liberals wanted to make it illegal for parents to spank their child? Welcome to the future.

A lot of great work there, now disprove some (if not a majority of in many cases) conservatives didn't agree. Blanket statements do nothing but fuel hate and misconceptions.

Why shouldn't people be allowed to smoke cigarettes and kill themselves? Who made you boss? Take your It Takes a Village type nonsense, move to the commune and leave people who are more than happy to take resonsibility for their own lives alone.

The arrogance of the left never ceases to amaze me.
