All rooms in subs or ships are called spaces unless they have a specific purpose like a bed room is called a berthing area a kitchen is a galley a bathroom is a head. get it, got it, good!

if you're speaking of ships, it's a compartment. if you're talking underwater in general it's a diving bell.
