In my lifetime, picking one from each party, I would say on the Repup side...George W. Bush for being a malevolent incompetent, and what's worse, a hideous manager.

On the Democratic side, Jimmy Carter, who was a truly honest and well meaning man, but was again, an imcompetent in domestic and economic affairs (anyone remember when the prime rate hit 21% or so around 1981/2?) ....and so far over his head he couldn't see daylight.

Honorable mention to LBJ...who was a bigger crook than Nixon, but smart enough not to get caught.

Andrew Johnson - He handed over victory in the Civil War to the racists/Confederate leaders and apologists through vetoing numerous pieces of civil rights legislation and having a conciliatory policy towards the losers of the war - making Reconstruction a shallow word.

The failure to remove Johnson from office through impeachment by the Senate - the House of Rep. had voted in favor of removal - further emboldened the racists, with ramifications of not confronting the real history of slavery and discrimination against blacks reverberating in society today.

He has done more to perpetuate legal racial hatred as any president in U.S. history.

Hmmmm...there haven't been too many bad ones, but Grant and George W are two that will probably rank towards the bottom. Clinton was a man-whore, but I don't think he was that bad of a president.

James Buchanon, Warren Harding, or Ullysses Grant.

Put them in a hat and take your pick.

I'm amazed at the sense of history of those jumping on W.
