It came with Windows XP but no reinstallation discs for the OS. Will everything, all programs, ect. be lost if I put in a new Hard drive?

Yes, everything that was on the old drive is now lost (you MIGHT be able to recover some stuff...take it to a professional if you really need to). You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you the recovery disc.

Yeah! by doing this you are physically removing the disc everything in it will be lost, your programs, OS etc. will be lost.You can approach any vendor in your locality and ask for a new copy.
If you are really intend not to lose your data either you must have backed it up or u must try to recover the disk with a help of the professional but keep in mind u might recover very minimal data

If the disk drive is totally dead and unreadable, then the answer is yes. The OS and all your other programs and data files are gone for good.

yup. it will all be gone. All the progrmas on the computer are stored on the hard drive. The new one will be blank. You will need a windows XP instalation disk. and even then, everything you put on your PC other than what comes with windows will still be gone.
