Get aggressive. Network as much as possible.

E-mail and phone people that may help. Go to the library and look up the names of people that do the hiring.

Be respectful and courteous, but try to talk with as many people as you can. Keep a log of who you talked with and what you learned. Even if people can't or won't help you directly, they will often give names of people that will.

Try to get interviews. Go to job fairs. Check out monster.com and hotjobs.yahoo.com.

Several local colleges in my area have counselors that will give you a hand, even if you have no connection to their school.

Maintain a resume or fact sheet that will make it easier for employers to hire you. Get birth certificates, military papers, or other ids that will make it easier for someone to hire you.

Volunteer your services. Besides being a good thing in itself, you can improve your skills and credibility.

Good luck!

What state are you looking in? I know that some states like GA. have state wide website where you can see what jobs are posted state wide. I live in TN and just got a job in GA that way. States like TN don't have a webpage like that but when you go to the education part of the state webpage, they can give you a listing of all of the school districts in the state and also any web addresses there are. It's a place to start.
