My friend is going on holiday to America in July and is worried he won't be allowed in. He is not sure if he actually has a criminal record or not but he did get a fine of around £500 for something. He read somewhere that you aren't allowed into America if you have a crim record, does anyone know if this is true and how he finds out if he has one?

To travel to the US with a criminal record requires a Visa. To apply for the Visa, contact the US Embassy in London.

If he had a criminal record, he'd know. If he was fined for something, it is likely not going to require him to get a Visa. If he needs on, it is way too late to get one if he's coming in July.
Good luck! I hope everything works out for him and he has and excellent holiday here in the States!

Best thing to do is to contact the American Consulant in London.
You may have to wait around a while as they get ibcredibly busy but its better than sitting on a plane for 8 hours then getting turned away at Immigration and having to fly all the way back again.

the united states isn't a detention center and no-one is being hassled whilst leaving, as long as they have a valid passport. there is not any CBP customs and no passport administration whilst departing, purely whilst coming into the U.S. The airline worker on the verify-in counter might desire to ask for an I-ninety 4 style if it is not interior the remote places passport, yet even this is entirely a obscure possibilty. in spite of everything, the respond "don't have one" is sufficient as green Card holders additionally don't have one in each of their passport. whilst i grew to become right into a green Card holder, traveling with a clean passport issued in la, there grew to become into no visa, no I-ninety 4, no longer something in it. It grew to become into on no account a reason for each and each man or woman to inquire from me, because of the fact that is no person's organization. So the airport worker has no wisdom of the immigration prestige or lack thereof of the tourist, and he and she or he has no canines in this hunt besides. that is totally a non-concern.
