Is it just me or is there a lot of prejudice here on Yahoo Answers?

It`s such a big issue here. I was shocked when I read some of the questions. It goes from the "harmless"; "why are white people so bad at sex?" to the seriously demented ones like; "should we kill gay people?"(I`m sorry if these questions offend anyone, they offended me to). How can people actually believe this?

I know some people use the internet to try to provoke others, but some actually mean what they write. All though questions like "white people are bad at sex" is obiously not meant to take seriously...

Susie Q: Yes, I admit being prejudice, allthough I usually reserve that to narrow-minded people. And if I did come of as offensive, it wasn`t intended that way.

I've seen it too, but in a way, I'm thankful. It helps to clear the air a little and dispell the belief that racism, sexism, etc. are things of the past. By allowing these people to air their prejudicies, it helps to motivate the good people out there so that the old nugget: "Evil happens when good men do nothing" doesn't come to fruition.

Good people are less inclined to take action if the need for action isn't apparent. It's sort of like the war on terror. If the terrorists weren't active, we'd have no way to track them down and stop them and how many people would be up for the hunt if they believed terrorists were a myth?

The reality is, there are those who do buy into racism, sexism, etc., wish harm on them, and incite others to act on that prejudice--if not act on those beliefs themselves. They will do this either publicly, or covertly, but they WILL do this.

I'd much rather have them out in the open then having to turn over rocks to find them.

It's not just you...I too am appalled by the amount of put-downs and insults being hurled from all sides. People are cruel to blacks, whites, Asians, Hispanics, gays, Muslims, Christians, Jewish people, etc. The list goes on and on!
It's a shame that people are so lonely and have such self-hatred that they must take it out on others.
I never to go the Jokes and Riddles section on Y!A because of all the black jokes and mean things that people say.
Those folks are to be pitied.
