I have both PC's (Dell or homemade) and a Mac (MacBook Pro). The difference is in the operating system, which relates to the interface when using your computer.
The Mac is an easier to use, integrated operating system. Software is specifically written for the mac and will work with minimal intervention. It's a clean, hip design. Your software can be limited and you can't "tinker" with the computer as much as you can with a PC.
A PC will give you a lot more options in terms of software (especially games). Upgrading PC's is usually easier and cheaper, though in terms of the laptops, it's pretty much the equivalent between the two. The Dell will give you much more "bang for the buck". PC's are about 30% cheaper (or more if you get a good deal) than Mac's. Also, PC's have a lot of amazing software that's not available on Mac's.
I would suggest that you go to an Apple store and play with the Operating System. I'm sure you've used XP or Vista, so you know what a PC feels like. Decide your price point and evaluate which one will do what you need for the price you want to pay.

I have a Dell laptop, I have used an Apple. I think Dells are much more user friendly then Apples and also Apples are way more expensive. And to those that talk about how PCs get more viruses, of course they do! Big companies use PCs, why would a hacker hack an Apple if they won't get anything from it.

Well apple computers run the apple operating system (almost always) And Dells run windows operating system (almost always) I assume your games are intended to be run on windows? If microsoft is what you're used to, then get the Dell, it will probably be cheaper. All around, the apple computers are generally better, but you would have to learn a new operating system and might not be able to play your games. I personally think apple is better, but I gather you are more experienced using windows, however, It is possible to run windows on a macintosh computer using a program called parallells, then you could have the best of both worlds.

There's more software available for a Windows PC than a Mac. I'd go with the Dell.
I've used an Apple laptop. It is sleek and elegant, but unless you boot Windows on it (which you CAN do now), there's not nearly as much software for it as there is on a Dell. And if you're going to boot Windows on it anyway, why spend the extra money on the iBook?

Apple has an awful web browser which you would have to replace (simple to do, but irritating).
Apples don't play many games as few are evry released for macs and if they are it can be months later than the pc version.
Apples are safer form viruses but still can get them, macroviruses run on any OS, malware is browser dependant and they are no safer from crackers/hackers.
PC's are better for your tasks as you have no use for OS X and will need to purchase windows on top of the cost of the mac hardware.
Don't buy a Dell, have a look at Asus, hp, ibuypower, IBM, lenovo which are better quality.

Since you are planning on using it to play games you will be better off getting a Dell laptop or you will have to load windows onto the Apple laptop in order to play them.

I have tried both of them and personally I would recommend HP. I used to have a dell and had nothing but problems, i had it for like 2 years and it was so bad I got a new one. I used apple's all throughout high school and junior high. apples are ok, i just didn't care for them so much. still, in my opinion, HP is the best.

I have always used Apple and their laptops are top notch. The great advantage now with the new Intel hardware is you can have it all. You can run all the Operating Systems on this one computer. So you don't need to chose. Run Windows, OS X and Linux - have all options and all software available to you.
If there is an Apple store near you stop in, play with one and see if you don't like the experience.

first off dell is a pc and apple is an "apple" what that means is that it is very immune to viruses and spam. I have had an apple for over 2 years now and it is still just as blazing fast as it was when i got it. The only real downfall is that there isnt much software for them yet. But in a few years i am sure apple will catch up definately get an apple

Only idiots purchase an apple laptop, who does relatively wanna spend two-three instances the cash on a laptop that's gradual for its cost, and has acquired a VERY low decision xD, i imply what the ****!! Instead of watching for a certain company, appear for the hardware INSIDE the computer. And the manufacturers simply assembles the comptuers, they dont make the hardware, because of this that you just must purchase the laptop in which you probably the most importance from your cash. Btw if we relatively wanna do that "mac is so much steady!" sort of sport, consider approximately it this fashion: You can purchase a equivalent home windows established laptop for two-three of the price, so for the amount of cash you pay on your mac laptop, you acctually get a relatively unhealthy laptop, and on the grounds that it has acquired scale back finish hardware it's acctually extra risky than "typical" home windows established laptop within the identical cost variety, which have got ALOT greater hardware. Think approximately it:)
