What was your experience? My PC has two viruses on it that I can't remove and it runs slowly. Its about 3 years old. Is it worth saving?

if none of these options work i suggest reformatting and reinstalling your windows Operating system. You will need to back up your important files first. I dont think anyone should used geek squad on their home pcs. it costs way too much . you can buy 2 new hard drives for the price they charge.

Before you take the PC in, try the following.

First, edit and tell us the names of the viruses if you can, Each one is cleaned differently.

Then reboot your computer in Safe Mode (turn it on and begin to repeatedly press the F8 key until you get a screen that offers you the Safe Mode option) and then run your virus scanners. Often it can clean things in Safe Mode that it can not in regular mode. When done, reboot the PC to return to regular mode.

If you do decide to take the PC into Geek Squad (or anywhere else), I strongly recommend that you back up on CD/DVD or something else OUTSIDE of your computer any music, pictures, documents, etc. that you want to keep. I have seen too many times where techs (not just Geek Squad) and "fixed" viruses formatting the hard drive and reinstalling Windows. If they do that, all your music, pictures, etc are gone.

Good luck...and repost with the virus names....

Save your important data to a cd or an external hard drive and then do a complete repartition and reformat the hard drive, and ur computer is going to be as good as new. Its very easy, remember there are geeker than the geek squad here.

Good Luck

Yea..

Start your computer in Safe mode, it'll be REALLY SLOW, and try to get it rid of it using AVG or w/e virus program you're using. This is the one of the best options for you or call geek squad or someone else you know, who's good with computers

GeekSquad service is quite pricey....it's worth it....good service....(internet+wireless set-up, computer clean up, etc etc...)

So, you couldn't remove a few little viruses from your computer yourself. You must be a full-time member of the pompous patrol.

it is worth saving
try this:

don't take it anywhere until you have exhausted all options to repair it yourself. I have not heard good things about geeksquad at all.
