I think you're confused about what E=mc² means. It is not a measure of the amount of energy or mass in any given place, or in the universe. It is a formula for expressing how much energy is contained in any given amount of mass (which is quite a lot).

There is a postulate of the Tachyon, but it's not held in high regard. It was part of the original string theory. Tachyons, it is said, can only travel faster than light.
