Because of religion christianity, muslim, etc
We were born naked the creator did not put alot of fur on us
Adam and Eve were naked. The Romans and Greeks never had a problem with being nude The basis for our laws come from the Roman Empire with religious values thrown in for public decency. I do not think it should be illegal to be nude in public as long and sexual activity is not engaged in People should have the right to be nude in public at any park, water area, camp, hike, boat, dine etc..The victorian based laws of countries are antiquated In some European countries public nudity is no big deal and not illegal as long as in appropiate places or designated areas, In the U.S. where I live there are public nude beaches but we don't have the right to be nude at every public park or lands as some european countries have. They are more enlightened about the freedom to be nude and human expression than the U.S..
I think there would be less crime against women , no need for seedy titty bars, everyone could be as free as they want
because we all who are nudists would not be hiding who we really are behind 2 yards of cloth We are the same and the human body is nothing to be ashamed of its beautiful in every sense.
Live naked and be of cloth the world would be a much better place..

The legality of it, for most countries, goes back to antiquated views of morality based on religion and old-fashioned views on modesty. The reason that these laws remain in effect, however, has changed. The fact of the matter is that most people simply do not want to see other people naked. For every Lindsay Lohan or Johnny Depp, there is a Rosie O'Donnell or Donald Trump running around that no one wants to look at without as many clothes as possible to cover themselves up. It is probably for the best. The last thing we need is to expose our delicate private parts to UV rays and skin cancer.

Religion long ago decided nudity was inappropriate. Prior to that it wasn't much of an issue and clothing was mostly worn for protection than because of modesty or decency issues.
As someone else mentioned though, there are just a lot of people who should never be in public nekkid...some bodies (a lot of bodies actually) I just don't want to see sans clothing...although viewing such might be a good appetite suppressant for others. LOL!

I discovered that Islam built an whole proposal to kill animals for meals referred to as Halal. They pass round like beast Halal Camel and consume them. They are not anything however savages, killing animals and consuming them. Why did the chook pass the avenue. Because a savage was once going to consume him and a cow, lamb, turkey and so forth. Right now a Muslim is in most cases cooking the blood of an animal proper now to consume it. Look over their Abu, it is a cow's arm otherwise you you wish a chook leg, a wing, a camel's again. Halal Ala Camel Stew

it is against tradition and religion for most.
Many religion view exposing oneself to another who is not of a spouse a sin
Some culture believe that it symbolizes self respect of an individual. so if you do it then you would loose it
For majority it is conventional that you wear clothing outside your area of privacy. if you don't you are mentally unstable and pose a threat to society.
if it is allowed people would question the values of respect that one would have for one another and we humans with highest intellect ability in the world would be no different than a monkey.
if people walk around naked legally, then there would be an increase in sex crimes as clothing represents a form of restriction to human lust and desire.
Thank you :)

We would be cold. I really don't think anyone would want to see me walking around naked. Actually, there are a lot of people who would find it offensive, there are a lot of prudish people in the US. If it was legal and everyone did it we wouldn't think anything of it, but people are afraid that everyone would be thinking sexual thoughts.

Considering that 65% of Americans are obese, I don't really have a problem with nudity being illegal.
