This is antipollution wrapped in a new pacckage with a bigger bow.

Yes, reducing pollution (i.e. carbon footprint) is a good thing. Forcing governments to follow "new" golobal warming reduction guidelines is Kyoto in sheep's clothing.

We all want to reduce the pollution we put out. Let's all reduce our footprint. But let's cut the hype.

I find it absolutely fascinating that those that posted answers based on facts gets the thumbs down; amazing.

The FACT that the world is warming is beyond dispute. The only issue that is mildy debatable at this point is, who or what is causing MOST of it; fair enough however; that debate, in of itself does squat to solve the issue.

To your point Phillip, yes we must reduce our footprint.

And to all the so-called conservatives who continue to argue that GW is a myth, isn't it interesting that Big Business is taking it upon itself to find solutions to be Green? Shouldn't the reality of GW be evident in the steps corporations are taking to build eco friendly plants? So all those major companies are "buying in to the hype?" Get real.

As Gravedigger correctly put it, Global Warming has been an issue for 30 years now. It wasn't until recently that the issue has gained traction because no longer do you have to be a scientist to see some of the real effects that are happening around the world as a result of it. Almost every credible and peer-reviewed scientific indicators suggests this isn't just a cyclical phenomenon. And the data correlates the extreme spikes with the start of the industrial revolution in addition to the world population boom.

1 + 1 = 2

Or maybe you just don't care. Maybe many of you out there are so convinced that we're in the End of Days anyway, and you're convinced that the earth doesn't require our stewardship because you're just so sure that you'll be part of the rapture -You're just setting yourselves up for a major let down. For Christ's sake read, do some research and come to your own conclusion.

Either way something needs to be done, If Big Business (conservatives buds,) are starting to do something about it, does that make them are "dumb" as Gore? I don't think so.

Two different things. Pollution is man made, something we can control for the most part. It is in our power to increase or decrease th amount of pollution in the air, water, soil etc. Global warming/cooling is Sun made. We have very little influence on the normal cycle of climate change. The idea of driving a prius and using fluorescent bulbs to counteract global warming is ridiculous.

i think we both understand pollution and Global Warming are different, but can be categorized together. people do get the issue confused. it's one thing, to be conscious of pollution and a healthy environment, as an individual. i mean simply being responsible for our trash and waste is enough action to help control pollution. but global warming, carbon footprint, and all this has complicated the individuals role in respecting the environment. we should do what we can without going overboard and getting overregulated.
big dirty industry and China is another story.

Please! The word Global warming isn't new at all. They've been bickering over this subject for over 3 decades(30 years)now. Why do you think acid rain was forming back in the early 1980's,or why they started talking about recycling, planting trees,or changing how paint cans, hair sprays, and other aerosol cans were changed in designs from despensing certain particles into the ozone causing it to break down and start melting down the Northern icecaps.I could keep going, but I think if you lived during these years, then you already know where I'm coming from on this subject. And they call old people senile and useless.PFFTTT!!!

Basically, the global warming theory is a fancy way to explain air pollution.

no, it is not, Global warming issues are just part of the wacky lefts new religion. the religion of the environment. Bet you didn't know that "Earth Day" is actually in honor of Vladamir Lenin's birthday. In Russia they call his birth day "Saturday" On this day all Russians have to work without pay in his honor
. there is no significant impact of the human on global warming, just remember that. it happens every 1500 years on all planets. we have much more to fear by global cooling, not warming....'fear the cold, embrace the warm'. it is totally irresponsible to scare young kids and our society with this global warming crap.

No. Pollution is relatively local and can be cleaned up. It is a factor which causes climate change, it's not climate change itself.

Global warming is ... well, it global and it's an entire process that must be stopped or slowed. Publicity and persuasion are necessary to convince people to take action.

No. Unless what you mean by "pollution" is half of Florida being covered by the Atlantic ocean and Antarctica disappearing within the next 50 years.

Two different things. Heavy metals in the air have nothing to do with CO2 or methane, for instance.
