My checking accounts have been garnished and I need to open a new account for bills and my pay checks. Can Ford continue to garnish new accounts? What about opening a joint checking account? Can Ford still garnish that too? I plan on filing bankruptcy in about 6 months, hopefully chapter 7. Does Ford have the right to sue me for the entire remainder of the lease even if they sold the truck, which only had 6,000 miles on it? I know this is alot of questions, but I'm a single mom vs Ford. Please help. P.S. The truck was only 1 year old,a 2006 F-150.

Yes, Ford can and WILL continue to garnish any account which they find to exist in your name. And yes, Ford has the right to sue you to regain its investment in your transaction, on which you apparently defaulted.

Ford and others make it fairly easy to get involved in such transactions, but they retain a very hard line when it comes to situations with customers not honoring their end of the agreement.

Your major error was in purchasing a brand new vehicle when you apparently could not afford it. Brand new vehicles depreciate drastically the moment they are titled to the first owner.

thry will continue to garnish it if it is under your name... my recomendation get someone you REALLY trust (like a parent) to open an account under their name for you to use... you will have to do all your depoits throuth the machine (or get them to do it) but ford will not touch the account.
