I was sick and I was told that either *it* would get into my brain and kill me...or the treatments would be successful and I'd be ok. I was depressed, wondering whether I'd live or not. I slept continuously....
One night I woke and felt as though I was in a dark place that was somehow light at the same time. What I can only describe as energy surrounded me....I, not the physical me, but my feelings and thoughts sort of popped into a conversation about whether I would go on in life or elsewhere. It was like I interupted a conversation I couldn't understand upon a background of what sounded like a out-of-tune radio. No one was actually talking though. I sort of just *felt* the ideas. I felt dizzy and heard my non-self, my energy self saying: "I want to live". All the energies turned toward me and I felt a love I can't really describe, but also that I had said the wrong thing or something that didn't make sense...I walked to the bathroom, but felt I was floating instead of walking...I could feel a trail of the energy following....disappearing as I heard my Dad call out...I had fallen on the bathroom floor....
Not really an out of body experience...But, can the experience be chaulked up to medication or to knowing that death was a possibility?? Was it all a dream?? Maybe, but it *felt* real and instilled an odd sense that my inner self, something that I am NOT in physical life transcends what I know to be actually real, tactile, what I am physically....but, still it is all somehow interconnected...

I have had what is called "out of body" experiences, but I'm not inclined to believe at such times, the physical self, & inner essence are separate. If you have "returned" to your physical self, doesn't that confirm your connectedness? By no means do I imply that at SOME point, the physical isn't disconnected from the inner essence! But, out of body, returning to body, is not a separation. There can also be a "struggle" as to the choice of "returning" or not. The "eternal" & "temporary" self are still mysteries. No one (that I know of), has come back to explain this. How could they? It's quite an experience, yet unless one voluntarily (or involuntarily) chooses to leave the physical self, how could anyone credibly answer this? I think the operative word here is "saw," as "observed."

You mean outer body experience right? Yes I had one when I was about 6 or 7 as well. I was staying at a cousins house and my mom was going out with two of her cousins and I had a bad vibe that something was going to happen to her I did not want her to leave me and I am never like that. In any case I floated above the bed and saw myself upside down and let me tell you it was not a dream it was freakin scary!!!!!!!!!!!!! It never happened again though. That night it turns out that my Mom and her cousins were almost robbed at gun point but thank God nothing happened to them!!! I do
not know why it happened but I still remember it today :))))
My inner self saw the physical wow it was scary just for a dew seconds I was floating then I woke up but the vision was clear.

The problem is identifying the body as 'I'. This idea is quickly disabused when it is realized that without the activating mind-ego the body is useless.
So starts (or should start) the tracking of the 'I'.
When pursued relentlessly be turning the attention within, shutting out the cacophony of the outside, the 'I' that is immanent will shine in silence.
Afraid still a long way to go. At least the quest has begun.

I have seeing my self been separate from my physical Body, although I have experience been separate, from my Body many times, The first time, was at night and in bed, after reading a book from Lonbsang Rampa, a monk from Tibet, and as I begin to do the exercises he recommended to practice, to experience an out of Body and achieved a Astral travel, Rampa HIM self came to me, and try to help me, to see all of those thing, but he fail. Although he promise me he will help me, for some reason beyond my capabilities I was unable to get out and into the astral or ethereal, at the time. So, next day I meat my friend "El Lamasito", and he pull me right out of my Body, just like a master, and fly my self to Tibet, where I visited for a while, and he show me what Astral travels are all about. I haven't change since then.

Well this is kind of weird, but I was 12 when I first saw my body go without me in it. I watched in awe because it was like a dream. Everything was black and white and there was no sound, and I couldn't move. My body on the other hand ran around the room trampling my older sister, leaving huge bruises on her. I was trying to escape from something. I don't quite know what though. I do know it was real because I was told by my sister what I had done. I swear I thought I was dreaming.

I do not believe there's a difference. My physical self has grown and aged; my inner self has done so as well. What you see when you meet me is the outward manifestation of my inner life. Mind and body are one.

I was less than a year old and was aware of sitting in a highchair observing others in my environment with the 'feeling' of not wanting to be in this body in this place with these unfamiliar people.
