I definately never raped anyone, but I took a psychology class called "law and mental health".
Rapists CAN mend their ways, but rarely on their own. There has to be ridiculous amounts of therapy, and the rapists has to WANT to change. It's a very serious process, and most do not change their ways.
Rapists who have raped more than once have an addiction like anyone else may have an addiction with drugs. At AA meetings, everyone stands and says "my name is ____ and I'm an alcoholic". They may have not touched a drink for 20 years, but their addiction will always be there.
The same goes for repeat rapists. One may learn how to 'control' their behavior, but never be 'cured'. Once someone is addicted, they are always addicted.
I believe there's more hope for the one-time rapists. If they can see what they have done wrong the first time and get help, they are far less likely to do it again.
No one should ever say that these people can 'never' change. However, it requires a ton of serious therapy and understanding of what they did wrong. This is not something that can be done on their own. There is a reason behind their motive besides the sheer fact that they want to take power over women. Until they can work through what caused them to want to rape, they cannot 'mend their ways'.

What kinda question is this? Instead of posting on here, should you not be contacting a health care facility, or a jail and get the answers you need. Even the sex offenders (pedophiles) can help you with an answer.
I live in a medium sized community, and we have 102 sex offenders in living in our city. And almost all of them are under the age of 40. These people know that did wrong, but are they curable, I don't know.
It is a disease that these people have. Can a rapist ever mend their ways (sometimes rapists can be women), I don't think so.
I think that there would be constant therapy. Always checking in with someone, curfews, etc. Maybe they can rehabilitate and supress what they did was wrong, and learn how to live a normal life. But it will always be in their minds. Can't mend their ways, but I definitely think with the utmost supervision (if the city can afford it), or back to be in a hospital where our tax dollars will pay for their education, etc...

I'd wonder about anyone who would admit to such a crime on a public website.
As for a rapist mending their ways, it probably depends on their mental state and why they raped. Were they mad at someone and in a fit of anger forced them to have sex...or was it pre-planned and something they sought out, perhaps repeatedly to get revenge on a group in general or punish them for some perceived wrongdoing.
I think their thought process behind the behavior would have some weight with whether or not they could "mend their ways" as you say...it's a pretty horrid thing to do to someone though.

I agree with everyone on here. There is not a rapist on this earth that is going to get online, and admit that they have committed a rape.Rapist are very evil people. They do not rape for the sexual pleasure, but they rape for power. Some rapist will go as far as killing the victims to silence them.Child predators are the scum of the earth.I personally believe there is no hope for a rapist.

yeah of cource I rape girls all the time , and talk about it openly on yahoo answers all the time!
lol raping some one is the worst thing you can do in our society , some guys look at it , as it is worst than even murder. a rapist can never mend their ways , something is just wrong with your soul since birth , if you rape some one...no one would openly admit to it because they know they would get beat down in real life, and on yahoo they would get tons of hate mail.

No, I can't imagine living with the guilt if I had. However I have hope that with time, regret, grief, and help, all but the most extreme can mend their ways.
Best wishes if this is concerning someone you know.

Sexual assault is a very deviant act committed by someone with severe mental health issues.Studies have shown that sexual predators can learn to get their urges under control, but the urges will always be there.
