1.First Ensure that you have good Antivirus Installed.
2.AVG is a good free Antivirus Install it.
3. Better is you buy Mc afee or Trendmicro Antivirus get it installed.
4. Ensure that you update your PC for antivirus signature regularly.
5. " DOn't belive on strangers"Be careful when you surf internet, you are prompted and offered alot of installation ( they are most of the times inwiting spywares) , DON'T do that.
6. Use good anti spyware to clean up spywares. Ad-aware Personal edition is free & effective www.lavasoft.com
7. Again like antivirus antispyware has to be updated.
8. Regularly clean your PC.
9. Keep Auto cleanup on for your Antivirus.
10. Don't open attachments of spam emails.
11. Ensure you have lates service pack and fixes for your OS are installed for windows use windows update to fix known bugs.

You should try avast anti-virus home edition which is free, scan your computer and then you should also install the Yahoo! toolbar which has a built in spyware scanner that you can use and that should take care of every thing

Go to Ewido.com and do the free spyware, adware, virus scan. It will take a little while but it will clean up your system.
