If using laptop connection to web--how do you protect it from spies.
At home router will protect, but out in the field is it possible for anyone to infiltrate ?

First as everyone is saying,, be sure you have good active firewall software.

Second, turn off File and Printer sharing when not at home. Just go to the network connector and remove the protocol period. If that isn't there you are not very easily attacked.

The other thing to realize with PUBLIC wifi is anything you send can be monitored so be very careful as to who you connect into and trust.

Yes, home networks does get attacked, if you are in the internet you're open for problems.. Routers does come with some basic firewall which helps to protect you a bit. You can also install any free firewalls on the net for extra protection..

Yes. You should install a good software firewall(such as Zonealarm) and keep it updated!;-)=
