please can somebody explain how i would do this.

''a total of £36 is shared in a ratio of 7:3:2. Donna recieved the largest amount. How much did she recieve?''

A ratio of 7:3:2 means there are 12 parts to be shared
(7 + 3 + 2 = 12)

One person gets 7 of the 12 parts
Another person gets 3 of the 12 parts
Another person gets 2 of the 12 parts

36/12 = 3 £ per part for each of the 12 parts

Donna receives the largest amount, which is 7 of the 12 parts.
(7)(3) = 21 £

As £36 is shared in a ratio of 7:3:2.
7+3+2=12
Then, 12 parts represent £36, one part represents 36/12=3
As Donna recieved the largest amount, which is 7,
3 x 7 = £21

the 7:3:2 ratio breakdown means there are 7+3+2 parts or 12 parts.

The 7 part is 7/12 of 36 or 21
the 3 part is 3/12 of 36 or 9
the 2 part is 2/12 of 36 or 6

21+9+6 = 36
