Because they're bored. Its annoying... yes I know, but people love to state the obvious. I think if I hear a another woman who is a size two talk about how fat she is., I'm going to go ballistic.

This is probably an answer you do not wish to hear. My momma always said birds of a feather flock together. If people are telling you they are bored then you must be hanging around with boring people and I suspect you are a boring person yourself.
People who are bored are seldom self starters, usually poor wage earners and think the world owes them a living. They make poor mates and poor parents.
I would take a hard look at myself. Happiness comes from within.

Here's something worse: when I was 19, I visited Austria. People there are REALLY friendly so I used to chat w/all kinds of folks in the Biergartens and other places. One guy seemed bored, so I asked him if he was, in German.
He looked really surprised and kind of hurt and said "probably."
I asked what was wrong and he said, in English"I guess I AM boring!"
I had used the wrong word! He got over it, once he taught me the correct word for BORED (in case you're interested, it's "gelangweiligt", whereas I'd said "langweilig" (boring)!
My point? At least people don't say you're BORING! :D

sweetie, simply put so they can have someone 2 talk 2.
It is a question they ask if there is nothing else they can think of 2 say, be patient someone just needs u 2 listen and respond even if what u talk about is totally and completely pointless u may make someones day just by talking.
And u may end of meeting some interesting characters as well, I no I have.

People state the obvious because they feel that you haven't noticed.
They're telling you they're bored because they are and they're looking for solutions.... that they're telling you means that they think that you might be the kind of person who can help.
