I do like the name. If you are religious it may be important to you that Simon was someone who tried to help Jesus as he was being crucified. He is a kind and giving character. Even if you aren't religious, it's a nice, not overly used name.

PS - don't worry about the Simon Cowell thing... by the time your kid is in school American Idol will be LONG gone and forgotten!

Well, I actually think it is cute and has a nice English vibe to it, but unfortunately, all I ever think of when I hear Simon is Simon Cowell or Simon the chipmunk, or Simon, that little annoying electronic game from the 80's. I like it as a middle name, though...

Well there is the Simon Cowell thing, but I still like the name, and anyway I don't really think of him when I hear that name. I think more of Simon Le Bon from the band Duran Duran and Simon Camden from the show 7th Heaven.

I like the name Simon and considered it for my son but we went with Steven. The problem with Simon is the whole Simon Says thing and I never wanted to give a kid a name that he mnight end up getting teased about. It's certainly more popular now than years ago though.

No, I would never consider using this name. I think of a slimy, conniving individual. I know someone named Simon and they are the most inconsiderate person I have ever met. Just a true asshole, very selfish and hateful too. They are nice sometimes, but it doesn't last.

I think Simon means cephas or rock. In the Bible Simon is a strong faith man. He follows Jesus faithfully and become the founder of the first church.
