Forgive me my fellow human Americans...I forgot they were "illegals" and not fellow "humans" looking for a better life through hard work. Those whom commit crimes (other than crossing the border illegally) should be deported. The rest legalize and REALLY seal the border.

Focus groups indicated the word amnesty would rile up and motivate conservatives.

I have not read the entire 800 page proposed bill. I doubt many posters on here have. I look at it like this, they are here illegally, to be able to pay a fine, be 'pardoned' and allowed to start a path to citizenship is pretty damn close to amnesty when you can avoid prosecution of a crime you committed.

I do not think there is anything wrong with the current immigration laws. The problem with them lies with lack of enforcement and lack of border control. Laws cannot work unless they are diligently enforced.

Because passing a bill like that will not change anything. If illegal immigrants are not following the rules now without a $5,000 penalty, then why would they pay $5,000 to follow the rules later. It's stupid.

Because they are given immediate legal status. They only have to return to their home country IF they want to become a citizen. So it is amnesty.

It is a joke because how many do you think will come forward. They ignore the law now and wont come forward for the new bill either.

It is only the head of household that has to return. Mothers, and anyone else living with them can stay.

Because in the end they wind up with citizenship and not a prison number.

They will not leave and they will not pay the fine. They will continue to drain our system until it is out of resources.
