"The DaVinci Code"

Delbert DaVinci had been a resident of Dodge long before Matt Dillon had become U.S. Marshal. Long before Miss Kitty had poured her first drink in the LongBranch and long before Doc Adams was the resident physician. He lived just North of Dodge, in a derilect old house that just screamed for a ghost story to be written about it.

Through the years, several eerie events had occured on his property. The first incident took place the same year Matt became Marshal. In fact, it was his very first assignment.........
A (1.) Body in the Salt Marsh on Delbert's land, had been discovered. Matt could easily discern who it was because of the preserving properties of salt. It was the body of Constance Tenobel. (Say it quickly and you'll catch my little joke.) She was truely a wicked old woman who had lots of enemies. Many a person had uttered more than once,(6.) "Let's All Kill Constance." Matt soon discovered that her husband had done away with her........ But since there was a STRONG (3). Suspicion of Madness on his part, the judge found him guilty by means of insanity and had him committed to a mental hospital.

Another strange happening that occured on his property was related to everyone by none other than Festus Haggen. 'Pears that Festus had heard and SEEN a ghost. He had everybody in town so worked up that they were ready to burn the place to the ground! Matt stepped in quickly to quell their fears. He told the townsfolk in NO uncertain terms that there would not be a (4.) Fire Time at the DaVinci Farm. After a thorough investigation, Matt had determined that the "ghost" Festus was talking about was actually a very large, deranged owl that lived in the oak tree on the property. Festus still cringes whenever anyone brings up (5.) "The Clue of the Screeching Owl."
Doc especially enjoys ribbing his old friend about this. It is not uncommon to hear Doc go, "WHOOOOOOOOOOOO," as Festus is walking by.

Just when Matt thought that all was well, at least with the DaVinci Farm, the door to his office flew open. Festus came running in, completely out of breath!
Festus:"Matthew!! I sure am glad you're here!!"
Matt:" Great guns of glory, what's the matter?!"
Festus explained that Delbert DaVinci was out to get him !
Matt:"What on EARTH makes you think THAT, Festus?"
Festus: " He just told me that he was going hurt me and make me suffer!" Matt did his best to calm him down. Just then, who should walk into Matt's office, but Delbert DaVinci!Festus cowered in the corner.
Matt:"What's this I hear?! Did you tell Festus you are going to hurt him and make him suffer?"
Delbert just laughed, blew his nose and then sneezed.
Delbert:"Festus said he needed a litle pocket money, that he was short of funds. So I told him that I was going to help him out by making him SUPPER. He misunderstood me because of my dad blamned code." (Cold) He sneezed again. Every year the menfolk in my family come down with a real doozy. For as long as I can remember, it has always been referred to as, (2) "The Davinci Code." (Cold)
