No, not the best but probably in the top 10 to 20. Pitchers like Koufax, Gibson, Ryan and others would have the nod over Clemens.

NO...but he is close. I still believe Koufax, Ryan, Cy Young, etc. had better stuff. If you look at when Ryan retired until now though, I believe Roger Clemens is the best pitcher during the last 17 or 18 years. I know Ryan was still pitching in the early 90's, but Roger was the dominant pitcher of the mid to late 90's.

Clemens is one of the best pitchers of his generation, but it could be argued Greg Maddux or Randy Johnson were just as dominating, if not more at certain times.
Walter Johnson is considered by most who follow the game to be the best ever: 417 wins, 2.17 ERA on arguably the worst team in American League history, the Washington Senators.
Here's nine others I'd take before considering Clemens: Christy Matthewson, Sandy Koufax, Lefty Grove, Cy Young, Bob Feller, Steve Carlton, Bob Gibson, Warren Spahn, Nolan Ryan.
When you are talking 104 years of modern baseball, be careful when saying that anyone from today is the best ever at anything.

Bob Gibson would have to be considered the nastiest pitcher of all time, and probably the best... Nolan Ryan was a tad overrated. He had durability. I'll give him that and seven no-hitters. He was awesome, I just cannot say he was the best of all time... The best pitching performance I ever saw with my own eyes was Kerry Wood striking out 20 Houston Astro's one night. But that is a shame about his health..

Possibly. He's in the top three in a very tight cluster with Walter Johnson and Lefty Grove.
Pitching is about preventing runs, and by extension preventing baserunners. Clemens is one of the very best ever at this aspect of the game.

There could be a strong argument for that. It depends on what different people consider makes the best pitcher. My opinion, yeah, I would say so. Too many Cy Young awards, plus he is towards the top of the strikeout list and he has some World series rings.

You would definitley have a strong arguement . His numbers and durability is stunning . I don't know why but Greg Maddux is overlooked all too often when talking about the greatest pitchers . While he's obviously not the best , his career has been incredible .

He is definately one of the best, it is very hard to pick a best ever, because there have been so many different pirchers with different styles but I would definately put him in the top 10 ever and the top 3 that I have ever seen
