Actually, many times. I lived in So Cal from 1964 until I moved to Az in 1992. During high school weekends, we would have at least 2 or 3 bonfire/beach parties a month. More during the summer.
The thing I learned about grunion, and everyone who ever goes, listen to this advice: DON'T pick up the first few you see. Those are the "scouts" and if they don;t come back, then you won't have a good "run". Be patient, let the first few little groups go, then you should have so many dang flopping fish you won;t believe it!
Have fun!!

Actually yes... You have to go when they are ready to be picked, but before the other "grunion runners"... A very delicate timetable. Ever been on a snipe hunt?

Yes, it's fun. A little weird but with a few drinks and the right friends it is a blast.

no, I have heard of it, but what exactly is it? Is it for real or is it like "snipe hunting"?
