People who say they are fine & dandy

2007-05-31 02:37:13 · answer #1 · answered by xxiilynxiixx 2 · 0 0

It depends on your definition of advancment.
More money, or more productive ways in which to use wealth?
Better education, or more acessible careers to implement the educated into productive citizens?

And as far as describing one 'group' of people, since you feel some need to dodge personal responsiblity...as an 'american'; I'd blame people like you, that have yet to grasp a global, non-discriminatory perspective about life. We're all in this like it or not, but it seems that only a chosen few have made that advancement in their opinions.

Americans

Thats quite a statement - that America has been hindered from advancement. In what ways? The America I see has been advancing far more and much faster than most other countries in the world. What is it you feel you lack? What MORE would you like the country to have?

If anything, I think that America is sadly lacking in compassion for others...their fellow Americans who are less fortunate and others around the world. So to answer your question, I guess that Americans themselves can be blamed as their own hindrence to personal growth and development. They have every convenience and luxury available...but are held back when it comes to empathy...

Every uneducated non-productive mooch on welfare.
Everyone who insists on not speaking American English like an educated individual.
Everyone who thinks the nation as a whole owes them a living.
Everyone who is jealous of those who are successful.
Everyone who wants bigger government to give them something for nothing.
Every "Robbin Hood" who steals form the productive to give to those who refuse to produce, thereby penalizing production and rewarding non-production.
Everyone who thinks you can only get rich by taking something from someone else. They don't have a clue about how to create wealth. Until they learn that, by creating something that they can exchange for a profit, they will create wealth, they will always be poor.
Look at those who are members of such "special interest groups" and you will see those who hinder advancement.

There is no single group that has been a hindrance.

Our children.
We need to love, educate, and discipline our next generation and too many "parents" are slipping.
I shudder to think my child will have to pass through a metal detector just to get an education.

I guess that depends on what you wish America to be advancing towards: Freedom? Socialism? Economic prosperity? For each goal, you can insert your boogeyman group of people.

my father would say "the do-gooders, who worry about every one's rights, including stupid fish in some river that no body can eat anyway". my cousin would tell you it's" the liberal, sissy democrats." my brother-in-law would claim "****, no, it's the war-mongering rebublicans". my sister would yell"you're all stupid idiots! it's due to the born-again christians meddling with our government and schools".....whereas I would say it could only be all of you and me and the rest of the world. how advanced do you want to be?
