Well I don't know what a flute PLAYER sounds like, but the FLUTE is a beautiful instrument capable of producing heavenly sound.
It can be difficult to develop a good embouchure - the way in which the lips and tongue are applied to the mouthpiece - but, at the risk of once again being the one with the dirty mind, I'll assume that you would train your flute player in the techniques you feel would give the most satisfaction!

Thre are very few musical instruments I dislike, Ian but the best of all is the E flat bass (not the hulking monster of a B flat bass of course) - that's one of the tuba family - it's majestic, mellow and everyone knows; music is vapid without a bass line.
