Every known organism comes into existence, ages (lives), then ceases to exist. Every organism ages. Every organism seem to be born with the same affliction or disease, it's called aging.
Here is a fact: A few years ago, scientists believed they discovered the gene that controlled aging. They are trying to figure out how to control the gene and make it stop doing what it's doing or to slow it down. It could show that aging may not be as natural as everyone thinks. It makes me look at aging in a a very different light; like something that can be cured.
Please EXCLUDE answers that would involve God and religion. Also, I can imagine what this would do to the world population and its scarce resources.

But if you need to manipulate our natural genetic make up to slow or stop aging, why would that make aging not natural? Personally, I doubt that we'll find a fountain of youth, but we'll see. And, anyway, you and I won't benefit from this in our lifetimes. Only the very rich will be able to afford this therapy - and do you really want Paris Hilton and Donald Trump to live forever??

We don't know how to conserve our natural resources now, so if we "flip the switch" on aging for all humans but don't find a "gene" for living reasonably and simply, I doubt that life would be worth living for long.

I dont think its a disease but how long we live is preprogrammed into our DNA. By using gene threapy, I see no reason why this age limit cannot be changed or removed.

i do not think this is a good idea, to ellimiate ageing is to sentence the world to a future of overcrowding to a point where I beleve society will fail. All of the main problems in the world today have a root in over population.

If the current population were to live forever, then there would have to be limits on reproduction. Without reproduction, the human race will never evolve both physically or culturally as society will stagnate.

There's no doubt a cure for aging is in the works. It's hard to imagine what life on earth will be like once the drug is on the market.
