How many truly GOOD football teams exist right now? Are there 4 or 5 teams that are consistenly good and fun to watch?

How many teams, like my beloved Cowboys, are mediocre, (at best) and tend to crap out at the first high-pressure situation?

Now add 12 to 24 more teams to the mix and see how crappy the games will get from the top to the bottom of both leagues.

Right now it is only in the planning stages and nothing is definite. The way Mark Cuban has explained it...The league will have 8 teams. They will play on Friday night, a night typically dominated by high school football. They will look to sign players who were drafted below the second round and free agent players. They would also look to sign players cut after training camp and preseason. He also explains that with the salary cap issues in the NFL the new league can afford to pay more money to those types of players. Whether this new league will be successful, or even get off the ground, is anyones guess. We have see from previous examples, (XFL, WFL and USFL) that they almost always do not, the one notable example being the AFL which was able to merge with the NFL.

The NFL rules football in the US, period.
The only way any "new" football league, besides a semi-pro sort, is going to survive is to have the backing of the NFL financially.
The European football league would not even exsist if it didn't have NFL money behind it.
USFL tried it, but they went broke trying to match the NFL salaries.
XFL was a joke anyway.
NFL is the establishment, with all the major companies endorsements and the television coverage.
Look how long it took the NFL to become the powerhouse it is today.
Much like the WNBA would not exsist if not for the NBA financing it, any new football league will not be able to survive without the NFL somehow backing it.

Its a good idea if he plans on playing from the spring to fall, no way will it compete with the NFL in the fall/winter. This new league will get some washed up players to come out of retirement. Maybe Brett Farve can flourish there.

If he wants to succeed, it will have to be during NFL offseason. They will never compete with NFL, but could take advantage of the time of year when not much is happening in sports. I think a better idea would be a women's football league. I would certainly watch it.....wouldnt that be entertaining while you wait for the NFL season?

not only will this work but with him backing it up. it will out take the nfl. the xfl was a joke to begin with. come on wwe was the backer of it. mark cubin is one of the smartest men in the world and a true business man. he wont start that league if it wont make him billions of dollars. in my honest opinion i think it will take down the nfl in about 20 years and you will that he did what was nesscary to do for pro football.

It will not work. look at the XFL and the USFL. They had plenty of money behind them but they did not have the talent. There is not enough fans to be loyal to 2 leagues. Usually fans choose one team. There are not enough talented football players to fill two leagues.

I read the article on Yahoo and thought that it is going to end up like the XFL and only last a few months then everyone is going to forget about it.
