I can't stand most of them. I think they promote / encourage everything that's ugly about the human race (greed, self-centeredness, back-stabbing betrayal, etc) and a complete lack of creativity. It basically involves people selling themselves on national tv....(There are other ways to be a who** - not just sex. Selling yourself is selling yourself, it's still degrading and sad, and they're still doing something they probably wouldn't do if money wasn't involved - only it's worse because they're more cut-throat about it BECAUSE a huge sum of money is involved.)

The only exception is Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
Possibly Dancing with the Stars, because there's really nothing for the people involved to gain. They all learn how to dance. (The winner might gets a trophy, but so what? These are stars who have gold medals, super bowl rings, stars on the Hollywood walk of fame, gold records, etc...)

Some are better than others. For the most part, I hate them, because they are really no more real than anything else. Once in awhile something that I guess you can characterize as a reality show will be decent, though. It is not fair to stereotype them all as being bad. That said, I would never sell out my life to be on one. Unless you are a very talented singer and get on American Idol, there is little of interest to be gained on reality shows if you have any respect or dignity.

I watch Trading Spaces, The Deadliest Catch and sometimes American Idol. That is my reality TV viewing. Most of the rest show the worst of people.

for the most part-yes. I think they have been so overdone it is disgusting. I mean, now NBC has cancelled a good show like "Crossing Jordan" so they can have yet another reality show. I must confess I watch a reality show but only one- " The Amazing Race" I can't stand all the others.

TV, in general, sucks.

If its not a reality show, its an over-hyped drama, or some type of political statement from the left or right designed to sell tangible goods or someones dogma.

In the end, it will be an instrument which does more bad for our society than it does good - we just don't know it yet.

I love many reality shows, especially Survivor, Amazing Race and Big Brother! Why? Because, I like to study how people react when they are put in situations where they have to be who they really are. Most people show their true colors when faced with difficult situations and no distractions, like TV, cell phones, etc. It's very interesting to see who becomes a real butthole and who has a real personality. I also find Survivor and Amazing Race very educational ; because they take me places I will probably never get to visit.

I only watch the real world on MTV. I love the debauchery and sleaze that has increased on it over the years! It was the original reality show. I don't watch anything else. Network reality shows are for the masses-I don't want to be a mindless drone follower of the masses.

Most reality shows are not acted out but have a director's favor into it.Thats why i agree with you and think that reality shows are stupid. Most reality Shows should be aired Live. I would like to participate in Fear Factor, Most of the stuff i pretty easy to do. except for laying in a coffin full of spiders... that i cant do.
