I had my first apt to check things such as bloodpressure, height, weight, urine, bloodwork, vaginal exam all at about 10-11 weeks. I would call and find out about when they plan on doing those things, beign they are pretty importnant. Good luck!

Hi, like you say it really does differ between hospitals which i think is terrible as some women seem to get a lot more care than others. Anyway, my midwife first came to my house at 10 weeks and took my medical history, did blood tests, weighed me etc. That took just over an hour. I then have a 12 wek scan next week. Then i have my next anntenatel app where thay do blood pressure etc at 16 weeks. Then the list my MW gave me looks like this:
20 weeks (inc scan)
24 weeks
28 weeks
32 weeks
34 weeks
36 weeks
38 weeks
39 weeks
40 weeks
41 weeks
They are all check ups where they will measure baby, test wee, blood presure etc. You MW should be able to give you a list of what happens when. Good luck x

As everyone here has said every doctor works differently. I went to see the Dr. and had blood drawn and urine done at my first appt. I was only 9w6d. I agree that it can be a waste to go early but I have other health issues that could affect both my self and the fetus so I went in a bit early. The most important thing is how you feel. There are somethings that can not be detected by symptoms you may experience but if your dr feels that you are ok you just have to have a little faith. If at any point you feel uncomfortable or anxious it's never a bad idea to call the doc. They could explain their reasons and ease your mind. I found this website and it gives some pretty good information on the subject.

Good luck to you and a healthy pregnancy ahead. HTH

My blood work and urine tests were done at 13 weeks. That's also when they got my full medical history. So I think you're fine. Like you said, every caregiver's timetable is different.
When I am pregnant I never go to the doctor/midwife until I'm at least 12 weeks along. Unless there is a problem, it's a waste of money to go early on in the pregnancy. There's nothing they can do at 5 weeks that they can't do at 12 weeks.

My blood work was done at my first prenatal appointment at 6 weeks. My urine is checked at each prenatal appointment, which is routine. I would start asking questions at your appointments.
There is a really good book called "Your Pregnancy, Week by Week" by Glade B. Curtis. It's a much better book than "What to Expect When You're Expecting". It gives really good information about what is going on each week of your pregnancy and what to expect at the doctors appointments. It could help guide you through your pregnancy. I read it with my first pregnancy and I am reading again through this pregnancy.
Best wishes.

When I was pregnant they did my blood work the second time I went in to see the doctor and did a urine test every time I had a visit. Perhaps you should ask your doctor about having those tests performed, sometimes those things get overlooked due to any number of things. I discovered that I had to ask about certain things that I would have thought routine. Never hurts to ask and it also doesn't hurt to change doctors if you don't like the care that you are getting.

It is nice to hear that, it is 13 weeks, but God made this pregnancy process so simple and uncomplicated that a pregnant female should not worry about her pregnancy till the delivery . Yes, some times those who feels any problem with their health and pregnancy, they definitely should go to Gynecologist otherwise till the delivery pain starts, no one should go to hospital.
But once in 7th month you should go to your doctor and get checked.
That's how God made it such an easy way for delivering a baby.

You should be having your urine checked everytime you go.
I know that they draw blood only once or twice. Why dont you call your doctor and ask?
