hi,

i am basically a computer student, but im always curious about physics and its concepts...

during my lunch i was just thinking what difference would it make if something like ( electron or for that matter some object say a plane ) traveled at the speed of light or even more ie., 3 * 10^^8 meters/second. will any laws of physics change from the normal situation which we are in and this DIFFERENT SITUATION.

please help me out in understanding this physics concept...

The laws of Physics are basically universal with the exception of the disparities between Relativity and Quantum Mechanics. Quantum Mechanics is the physics of the very, very small, and Relativity is the physics of the very, very fast and the very, very large. The reason we do not yet have a Universal Theory of Everything is that the physical behaviors of things seem to act on different rules when in those two different systems.

Our everyday experiences are on a scale hugely larger than that of the sub-atomic world of Quantum Mechanics, and as such, Relativity is what applies. So, the rules that work on an airplane are the same that work on you and me, and on the planets and stars, etc. The rules that apply to the sub-atomic world, like the particles and quarks that make up that airplane and you and me and the planets and stars, are very different.

The scenario you are talking about though, is one concerning an object moving at the speed of light, which would be the very, very fast, and so Relativity would again be the rule set you would need to look at.

There is a VAST number of books that have been written about the complexities of these two theories as well as the complexities of their differences and apparent incompatibilities. If you really want to know more about them, I would suggest finding a good book on Physics. Preferably a book that doesn't read like a textbook.

And as others have stated, it is not possible for an object to travel faster than the Speed of Light in Vacuum, or rather, it is not possible for an object to ACCELERATE to a speed greater than the Speed of Light in Vacuum, because as the object reaches higher and higher speeds, its rate of acceleration decreases in such a way that the mass and energy of the object would both reach Infinity. If you have a true understanding of what Infinity is (it is NOT a number, and it is NOT a variable), then you should see intuitively why this would be an impossibility.

Ummmmm. i think of I effectively challenged quantum physics. I wrote the equation for mass of a proton, calculated the positive shape consistent, chanced on the lacking nicely-known consistent, rewrote the diffusion equations.... besides I did lots, yet in basic terms with the writer's help. you spot quantum physics isn't a particle in a container equation, or strictly achieveable function, this is relatively a mass situation. by using fact we by no potential had the terrific definition of mass we by no potential chanced on the fact. basically by using fact the particle interior the container represents the information (data), it does not let us know something relating to the fact by using fact it does not connect with different Truths. the reason of the Universe's habit while thinking it as a function of the appropriate concept via God and the definition of mass, explains what we see ok. it relatively is all relatively trouble-free, and transcends to a single concept. you will see? We surmise that the Universe originated from a single element, that's an identical situation with the fact, it began from a single concept that exploded into many extra concepts. it relatively is extremely fascinating the way all of it fits together, and QP as this is written now, does not slot in, it must be rewritten. And our minds? Our strategies is clone of the appropriate concept -- the emblems. think of of it commencing at a single element and arising the universe, and on a spec in that universe life greater and outfitted clone of the unique appropriate concept. this is there interior us all. as quickly as we've been waiting, divinity replaced into breathed in. you will see quickly sufficient.

The laws will be the same.
However, u cannot exceed the speed of light because as u approach the speed of light, your acceleration decreases. The relation F=ma is a simplified version of the actual formula which includes the speed of light etc..

Check out the time dilation, mass increase and length contraction effects as the velocity approaches that of light in vacuum. Nothing, yes, no thing can travel at a velocity greater than that of light in vacuum. Your thoughts can and do travel faster.

hi ravi,
i am very happy to know that you got such thought in your mind. yes certainly some laws will change but more then changing of laws there will be more addition of laws. i mean new laws.
any how it is very difficult for such thing to happen. but if it happens it will bring revolution which will be cause of many laws and ultimately it will also be a common thing later as computer is now..
but from my side , i dont want any such thing to happen because it changes the nature.
hmmmm.... i am also a student like u so i just said what i know.... upto my level..!!

According to special theory of relativity of Einstein, no material particle can travel at a speed more than that of light in vzccum.

i think if any thing went in that speed
the friction around it will cause it to heat up and burn so fast
